Dan joined Cohen & Burnett, P. C. in November 2009 and is responsible for the tax preparation services provided to our clients. Dan began his career with one of the “Big 8” public accounting firms, followed by founding his own firm of CPAs in Atlanta that grew from the two founding partners to five partners and over 20 professionals during the seven years he was a partner. After leaving public accounting, Dan has served in financial leadership capacities with innovative and growing companies primarily in the aerospace and telecommunications industries. Most recently, Dan was the Chief Financial Officer for eight years with Valcourt Building Services, a $50 million building services contractor serving the commercial real estate industry with offices along the East Coast. Dan is licensed to practice public accounting in Virginia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants – Personal Financial Planning Section and Tax Section – and the Northern Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – Taxation Committee, Personal Financial Planning Committee and the CPA Eldercare and Estate Planning Committee. Jo Young joined Cohen & Burnett in October of 2008 after a nine-year employment hiatus spent taking care of her family. Prior to that, she worked at an IT company as an office manager and at Grumman Data Systems (now Northrup Grumman) in the Human Resources dept. Prior to moving to the Washington DC-Metro area, Jo worked in the banking industry. A graduate of Wichita State University, Jo grew up in the South and Midwest. She is married with one child.
